I got your message you left for me at the tavern. The thing is, I really don’t ever meet people in person, especially people who try to sneak up on me in the night.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that the whole reason you’re trying to track me down so bad is because you’re a little upset about that group of bandits I sent your way. You must understand that was just business. Their leader tends to bother me so I just directed him towards you. I figured if I wasn’t wrong about you I’d be rid of him for good and if I was wrong, I’d at least come out on the other side with some treasure.
The truth is really that I underestimated you. Nobody has ever come that close to sneaking up on me. I had heard recent tales of a talented Tiefling thief to the east. I assumed it was you when I saw you poking about the warehouses around town and I believe now that I was right.
We’re not so different, you and I. You just don’t know it yet. I sense great potential in you, but it is not yet realized. I wish to help you realize this potential. There is a certain item which may help you along your path. It is not commonly found in these parts, but I happen to know where it can be found. Before I tell you though, I must know that you are worthy of it.
I need to know that you are willing to do what must be done. You must take a life. It doesn’t matter who it is but it must be an innocent. Once this is done, I will contact you again. In the meantime, hold onto this dagger, you will need it.
